Obama winning one for the Gipper?
Barack Obama, even as the Fourth of July approaches, saying again that America isn't great but needs major improvements:
"For those who have abandoned hope, we'll restore hope and we'll welcome them into a great national crusade to make America great again."
Maybe the critics do have a point about Obama always cutting down America, always --
Wait. That was Ronald Reagan speaking in 1980.
Sorry.
I love the U.S. Constitution. That probably doesn't really surprise any of my six readers. I think the founding fathers did a hell of a job with a plan for our government.
I think they realized just how human people were and were going to be in the future. That's why they set up failsafes and redundancies in the plan.
I think they knew that perfection is unattainable and put it right in the Preamble:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union...
"More perfect" is a nice way of saying "we aren't there yet," but we're willing to work at it.
I don't think they realized just how bad things could get when there is a willful disregard for the Constitution, but this, too, shall pass.
